SilSOS nasal decongestant contains a patented anti-infective based on silver, effective against viruses, bacteria and yeasts. Unlike other antibiotics, the use of silver is not associated with an increase in bacterial resistance and this explains the renewed interest in this element's use. It is planned to develop several different formulations to suit various circumstances, from hay fever to post-surgical tissue inflammation. The first of these sprays is expected to be available in 2012. The potential for a gynaecological formulation is also being explored.

The target market for decongestant products is enormous worldwide; even a small part of this, the treatment of sinusitis, runs to several billion dollars annually.
